Truth is, for many people.
It’s not.
Even my wife likes FaceBook more than Twitter and I’ve seen some nice contacts come from her endeavors there.
And then there is…
* LinkedIn
* Yahoo Answers (Not really a social network in my opinion)
* Plurk
* Plaxo
* And the list truly does go on from there.
Still, I like Twitter far more than any other social network I have used.
Why?
Well, minus the fact that it can be cumbersome to start using, it gives you a greater ability to reach your target audience than any of the other social networks do if used correctly. I recently tweeted the following post:
“The reason Twitter doesn’t work is because we don’t work Twitter.”
Instead we login and post just any tweet in a random fashion and expect that to suffice for immediate success. That’s plain silly if you ask me. Would we expect similar results from any other media?
With Twitter you can search and find people talking about your topic quite quickly.
With Twitter you do not have to wade through volumes of unnecessary data to find what you are looking for.
With Twitter your entire system is streamlined and quick to maintain.
In my opinion, other social networks simply do not boast these same features.
I’ve often read that the problem with Twitter is that you are forced to short 140 text messages only. The only reason someone would say this is because they have not taken enough time to understand how to engage essential applications with Twitter.
Without Twitter applications like…
* TwitWall
* Tweet Later
* Twitter Grader
And others, Twitter simply would not be the place I personally would choose to hang my hat. Which is why I stayed away from it for several months.
Today? Today my @BodyByChocolate profile resides in the top 1% of Twitter and has been there for several months. Even if I happen to be away for a spell, like when I broke my aircard, I return to find that I still lead the pack against 4 million other accounts. I call that very nice and very free publicity.
The beauty of this matter is that it didn’t take long for me to achieve these rankings. About 6 months as I recall. 6 focused months with deliberate intent to succeed on Twitter’s social network. Even so, I truly do not believe that I have done anything remarkable or unachievable for other people or tweeple as I like to call them on Twitter.
What have my initial results of my work been?
* Successful and unsuccessful joint ventures. Not all joint ventures are after all created equal.
* New business partners I would never have met else wise.
* Alliances with other Twitterific tweeple with potential not yet fully realized.
And a great deal more.
Twitter, is home sweet home in the world of social networking for me. And Twitter is a tool I recommend all people serious in getting their message to the masses use and use frequently.
